World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extended contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB stated this marks the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a 16% improvement over the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American average was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
