Vinted Members Express Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
