Hodgkinson recorded her personal best of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her 800m campaign with a win at the all-female Athlos event in New York on Friday night.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured third place at the World Championships last month, dominated an impressive win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season affected by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Bell finished second once more in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was likely easier for me to go out there and be motivated to perform," said Hodgkinson.

"The environment out there is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The women-only event packed Icahn Stadium in its second edition, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena Williams, who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to present the winners with their crowns.

Last year's winners received $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The competition also attracted some of the sport's biggest names, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith Kipyegon won the mile, finishing in 4:17.78.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
